Problem Statement:
The cow problem was basically finding de area of the circle that the cow could graze.
At the end the class and I broke the circle in those figures and we left three quarters of the circle because they were easy to find by itself the only difficulty was that piece with the weird shape.
We broke that part in triangles because it would facilitate the way in which we find the area, because first we would find the area of the figures inside and then we would add them all to find that total area. |
But to find the area we had to know how to find the area of each triangle and shape, we had problems to practice with to find the area of triangles, the angle of figures and its side. This was all that we needed to find the whole area of the circle. These problems helped me so much, if I hadn't done this, I would never have known how to get the area of the whole circle. |
Solution:
Now that we have the two components, we are missing two more, (the pizzas) and to find the area of those we have to find three angles. We know that the first angle is 45 because 45 is half of 90. Now we know that the first angle which is 45, we need to find the second one and to solve for the second one we have to use SOHCAHTOA . We need to identify if its sine, cos or tan to be able to solve for it. |
Reflection/Evaluation:
What pushed my thinking on this problem was that I knew there was a solution and I had to find it. I went to tutoring so that I could understand what was going on because I was lost, I didn't know how SOH-CAH-TOA worked, I didn't really remembered how to find the area of a triangle but when I went I totally understood and I grew a lot on this topic. Working on groups in the test helped a lot because we pushed our thinking , if we had something wrong we would correct each other and every component was bettered each time we tried it. If i had to grade my self on a scale from 1-10 my grade would be a 10 because I actually worked hard to understand this problem and I actually did understand.
